Frequently asked questions

What if I’m claustrophobic?

This is a very common topic for first time customers, but it’s not a problem. The inside is rather like a tent. It’s warm, illuminated and well ventilated. The power assisted door enables you open and close it whenever you like
and allows you to stop it at any point leaving it slightly or completely open. It’s up to you!

Can I drown if I fall asleep?

The high buoyancy of the salt water makes it impossible for an individual to sink beneath the surface. Once you are settled in the tank, you will only be able to touch the bottom of the tank with a great deal of effort. It’s actually very common to fall asleep for parts or sometimes all of your float

How is the water cleaned?

Our tanks are amongst the most hygienic systems available. The highly sterile salt water is fully drained and 100% of the solution is filtered between EVERY float. A powerful pump and the very latest in filtration technology are incorporated in the design of the Orbit Pump Unit and the dual filters are fully effective to one micron which is an incredible 100 times smaller than a human hair! Also the Epsom Salts are a natural disinfectant and create a hostile enviroment for bacteria, so it’s next to impossible for bacteria to live in Orbits solution. Please don’t worry, you won’t smell like you just came out of a public swimming pool or a hot tub.

How often do you replace the water?

Our tanks are among the most hygienic systems available. The highly sterile salt water has around 525KG of medical grade Epsom salts and is 100% filtered between floats through a 1 micron filter & ozone filter, as our tanks empty and refill for each float. A small amount of steriliser is added and the water is also sanitised with UV light. The water is not wasted, but returns clean enough to drink each time (except it’s very salty)!

Do I need to bring anything?

No. We have some tips and recommendations above to consider the day of your appointment, however we provide everything you need for your session. During COVID we do currently ask you to bring your own towel along if you can.
